Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State
has said the issuance of Certificates of Occupancy and other title
documents to applicants under the Homeowner Charter Programme, has been
increased from 1,000 to 2,000 monthly.
This, the governor noted, was to
fast-track the process and to ensure that all qualified applicants under
the Homeowner Charter Programme, get their Cs-of-O before the
expiration of his tenure.
Amosun, who was represented by the
Chairman, Ogun State Internal Revenue Services, Mr Adekunle Adeosun,
said this during the 24th edition of the distribution of Cs-of-O and
Building Plan approval to beneficiaries at the Arcade Ground, Oke-Mosan,
Abeokuta on Tuesday.
The governor said, “Our government has
done much more than expected under the scheme since 2013. So far, there
has been consistency in the distribution of Cs-of-O and the number has
now moved up from 1,000 to 2,000 monthly. This is done in order to cover
a large number of applicants before this administration hand over to
the next one.”
Earlier, the Special Adviser and
Director General, Bureau of Lands and Survey, Mr Biyi Ismail, appealed
to members of the public to get clearance from the Bureau of Lands and
building plan approval from the Ministry of Urban and Physical Planning,
before erecting any structure on their lands.
In her opening remarks, the Permanent
Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Mrs Funmilayo Dada, said the
stakeholders’ committee, saddled with the responsibility of monitoring
the progress of the programme, would ensure that all qualified
applicants received the title documents for their properties.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries,
